BioFoam® is CO2 neutral, non-hazardous, hygienic, light-weight & durable. It’s the perfect environmentally friendly alternative to harmful styrofoam beads found in most other bean bags.
No plastic. Fantastic!
Are you looking for a beanbag filling that is free from plastic, non toxic and doesn't harm the environment?
Discover The Perfect Eco Friendly Alternative
Most bean bags are filled with a man made material known as expanded polystyrene (EPS). EPS is a hard-celled plastic very similar to Styrofoam. Some estimates put the lifespan of styrofoam in a landfill around 500 years, and some put it way beyond that.
It's What's Inside That Counts!
BioFoam® is a plant-based alternative to expanded polystyrene. It looks similar, but is made from vegetable materials rather than petroleum based plastic. This means that it is derived from a renewable resource, has an organic base and is biodegradable.

Can Polystyrene Beanbag Fillings Be Recycled?
The main reason why your council doesn’t recycle polystyrene is that there simply aren’t the facilities available. Polystyrene is slow to biodegrade which makes it hard to dispose.
The few places that do exist are expensive to set up and can only process a limited amount of material, so recycling it on a large scale isn’t really viable.
Besides the costs of recycling, another challenge is that the material has to be free of contaminants before its recycled, which means that polystyrene used in food packaging and the like is often not fully recycled and is sent to landfill.
Polystyrene is terrible for the environment from the moment it's manufactured to when it ends up as litter or in landfill. When littered, polystyrene is a hazard to wildlife, who can mistake it for food and choke on it.
Polystyrene products have been found to leach toxins into the hot food and drinks they are designed to contain. It also leaches chemicals into the ground and water, posing more health hazards.
Check with your local council for the best way to dispose the polystyrene beads in your beanbag.
Filling Your Beanbag Does Not Have To Take Hours
Beanbags come in different shapes and sizes. You will need to know the dimensions (HxLxW) of your beanbag to determine how much BioFoam® beanbag fillings you will need. Having some BioFoam® beanbag refill left over shouldn't be a problem, it can be used to refill or top up another item such as, a footstool or an old teddy bear.
The Big Beanbag chairs are 90cm by 85cm and take approximately 180 litres of BioFoam® beanbag refill beads. The amount of beanbag fillings will also depend on how firm you want your beanbag to be. We have included a useful website calculator to help you out. www.calculator.net/volume-calculator.html
