Capacity
The Bean Bags are generously filled with biopolymer filling for ultimate comfort and a sturdy structure.

With a high-quality wax finish, the cover is splash resistant. Any attempt to spot clean should be done with a cold, damp, soft cloth with no chemicals added. Any heat added to the fabric will melt and damage the wax, reducing its water repellent coating. To change the cover, please use the safety pin supplied with the product. Place it through your zipper, pull to open the zips auto-lock, and remove the pin once closed.

Why The Eco Bean Bag?

1. THE FIRST TRULY ‘GREEN’ BEAN BAG

The Big Beanbag Company are working hard to make sure all their products have minimal impact on the environment.

Handmade in Cornwall.

2. COMPOSTABLE FILLING

BioFoam® is CO2 neutral, non-hazardous, hygienic, light-weight & durable. It’s the perfect environmentally friendly alternative to harmful styrofoam beads found in most other bean bags.

3. 100% WAXED COTTON WATER-REPELLENT OUTER COVER

The Big Beanbag Company use 100% waxed cotton water-repellent outer cover, in neutral shades, that are made to the highest quality.

The bean chairs are soft, comfy, durable and hard wearing. The outer bag has been tested to over 26,000 rubs.

BioFoam® filling is conveniently held in an inner calico zipped bag, so the outer bag can be easily removed.

4. MAKE OUR PRODUCTS YOUR PRODUCTS

We LOVE Spreading the environment-conscious message to the world. Earth day is everyday!

Plastic-free.

Polystyrene contains the toxic substances Styrene and Benzene, suspected carcinogens, and neurotoxins that are hazardous to humans. Some estimates put the lifespan of styrofoam in a landfill around 500 years, and some put it way beyond that.

Most bean bags are filled with a manmade material known as expanded polystyrene (EPS). EPS is a hard-celled plastic very similar to Styrofoam, which is extruded polystyrene.

Besides bean bag beads, EPS is used for disposable coffee cups and as cushioning material for packaging and shipping.

People Usually Ask

1. Can I wash and reuse them?

For the outdoor waterproof Bean Bags, any attempt to spot clean should be done with a cold, damp, soft cloth with no chemicals added. Any heat added to the fabric will melt and damage the wax, reducing its water repellent coating. To change the cover, please use the safety pin supplied with the product.

2. Are your products compostable?

We are proud to have a product that is safe for our planet. Our filling can be recycled by using a HOTbin or can be industrially composted.

3. Do I get a Guarantee?

We offer a 14-day-money-back-Guarantee if for any reason your not satisfied with your new product. Please read our terms here.

4. How long does delivery usually take?

All our Bean Bag products are made to order which helps eliminate waste. Usually 1 to 3 weeks from workshop to your desired address.

5. Does BioFoam® meet fire safety standards?

Our products meet all applicable British safety standards, including fire safety. We are tested to BS 7176:2007 Low Hazard standard for domestic household use.

Our outer cover fabrics are all made from natural cotton and tested to cover schedule 4 cigarette test, with a tested schedule 3 barrier interliner. Our BioFoam® itself has been tested to schedule 2 for non-foam fillings and fibres.

To make our products to a higher standard as possible they are also tested to BS 5852:2006, Section 11 for non-domestic environments. This test covers all composites used on all our products. For structure and durability our bean products have been tested to EN 16139 Test level 1 for general non-domestic environments.

6. What is BioFoam®?

BioFoam® is a plant-based alternative to expanded polystyrene. It looks similar, but is made from vegetable materials rather than petroleum based plastic. This means that it is derived from a renewable resource, has an organic base and is biodegradable.

7. Is your packaging eco-friendly?

Of course! We use recycled paper boxes for packaging to leave the smallest amount of carbon footprint as possible.

8. Where are your products manufactured?

Our suppliers manufacturing factory is based in Cornwall, UK

9. Do you offer large quantity discounts?

We love giving back to the community, we are focused on networking with like minded people. The Eco Bean Bag will offer discounts from time to time however, if you have something in mind then we love to hear from you.

10. What are your business hours?

We are constantly on the go. Our hours are not fixed and we welcome messages and comments at any time. We aim to get back to your messages ASAP.

11. Is the fabric you use eco-friendly?

The fabrics used in our products are high quality cotton, and sourced in the UK. This is a better environmental choice to traditional bean bag fabrics, which often contain viscose or polyester. The cotton we choose is hard wearing – it’s been thoroughly tested to make sure that it stands up to life as a bean bag, and our customers appreciate that cotton is a more sustainable choice and less damaging than other man-made alternatives.

12. Does BioFoam® last or do your beanbags need refilling over time?

BioFoam® has many great properties, one of which is durability, so the need for top-ups will be low. However, we know that you’re going to spend a lot of time using your bean bag, so if you do need to top up the filling, we can provide you with a refill tube to use at home.

13. What chemicals are used in the fire retardant barrier interliner?

There are no chemicals used on the outer bag. It is important to us that no chemicals come in contact with the skin.

The only chemicals used on our product are on the fire retardant barrier interline which by law we have to use according to health and safety standards. The chemicals used on the inner bag as given to us by our suppliers are as follows:

“Composition/Data on Components: Chemical Characterisation: Flame retardant based on inorganic phosphorous and nitrogen compounds. Hazard Identification: None”
